Thank You!

Friends in Christ,

Pastor Barry's InstallationOur “Installation Service” on Sunday, April 18th was a Spirit-filled, joyous affirmation of our mutual ministry at Greendale People’s Community Church. Notice that I wrote “Community” because we are a community of dedicated Christians and we are an integral part of fabric that forms the tapestry to the wider Worcester community and far beyond. As Rev. Rand Peabody so eloquently referred to us, in his installation sermon, we are “an embassy of the realm.”  The “Realm,” also referred to as the “Kingdom of God” is the place where we witness to the love of God and speak of that not yet revealed realm to come.  So, our gathering in worship that day was a reflection, not just of our love for each other but also for the world to which we bring the hope and love of Jesus Christ. What a wonderful ministry to celebrate!

People of the Resurrection,

“Alleluia!”

It is the time for resurrection and the celebration of the Easter miracle!

Unlike the Christmas season, which seems to start much too early and ends abruptly on December 26, Easter comes only after the Lenten walk to the Cross. Jesus’ resurrection is the on-going gift of God’s love and is present in each and every moment of our lives. Paralleling the beginning of spring’s new life, we breathe fresh air and consider the eternal breath of life promised to us in Easter.

Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We’ve entered that holy time of the church known as Lent. It is a time of new beginnings; a time when we reflect on the past, strive for a better future, all while trying to live faithfully in the present. It is a time to recall the signs of God’s grace in our lives and heed the beckoning to draw closer to the One who offers eternal love.

In past times, a pilgrimage to the Holy Land held a traditional appeal for some. Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales ,depicted medieval people on a journey for God. However, this year, perhaps instead of a journey to a holy shrine, might we enter a spiritual pilgrimage of prayer.
